Construction

Engineer. Procure. Construct. Sure – but that’s just part of what EcoEnergy can do.

Whether we act in an at-risk capacity or as a construction management-for-fee firm, we have the capabilities and connections to handle the full range of construction and/or construction management services for any alternative energy project. Our construction management capabilities are truly unique amongst U.S. alternative energy companies; our multidisciplinary abilities include electrical, civil, structural and mechanical systems for renewable energy and specialty energy projects.

We are a licensed power systems design and construction management business with extensive background in conventional generation plants that gives us a solid base for our current work in renewable energy projects. In wind projects, for example, our comprehensive experience includes construction management of a 180 megawatt facility in North and South Dakota and complete construction responsibility for a 100 megawatt facility in Northwest Illinois. We have over 30 wind and biofuels projects in other phases of completion.

First steps: design and engineering
When done right, design and engineering are really just the first steps in an integrated alternative energy project, not stand-alone steps that precede construction as another stand-alone step. Our involvement in the development process and then the design and engineering of a project allow us to integrate budget considerations into the construction plan based on knowledge gained during those earlier phases. Challenges that are inherent with construction are mitigated through a fully integrated approach to the building process. Furthermore, our pricing for construction, then, is much more accurate than would be possible for a construction-only firm that merely picks up where the development and/or design and engineering teams leave off.

The construction plan
We begin with a construction plan that takes into account budget, time and resources, which can mean the difference between a successful project that is completed on time and within budget, and a project that is late and over budget. There are two basic delivery methods for construction projects: design/build , and plan and spec. We can work with either, but generally find that our customers are better served with the design/build method since it allows us to apply the integrated approach with which we have been so successful.

On-site management
For all the projects in which we are involved in construction, we provide on-site management that meets requirements for cost containment, scheduling, quality and safety. We never forget the human side of a renewable energy facility either: our safety record is one of the most impressive in the industry, helping to keep construction costs in line, and ensuring long-term safety for the facility overall. Throughout it all we also continue to maintain excellent community relationships with the many stakeholders in the project, communicating with them on a regular basis and building a strong base of acceptance and interest in alternative energy.
